Importance of the EU Economic Partnership with ACP Countries for Their Socio-Economic Development: Case of Sub-Saharan Africa
Original language description
The Process of globalization has significant influence on the growth of the volume of international trade. The European Union is one of the most important actors of the international trade system with number of applied reciprocal and non-reciprocal trade agreements. It has had unique economic relations with the ACP Group since the 1960s. Nowadays, EU-ACP relations are formalized by Economic Partnership Agreements. Their main objective is to promote economic growth and development of ACP countries, as well as to promote their involvement in the globalized world economy. In some circumstances, economic growth and higher involvement in international trade can lead to the socio-economic development of underdeveloped countries. The aim of this paper is to describe formal framework of EU-ACP trade relations with the emphasis on EU trade relations with Sub-Saharan Africa's members of the ACP Group; to present current economic situation of this region and to show consequences of its involvement in international trade relations for its socio-economic development.
