Distorting Effect of Debt Dynamics on Fiscal Policy to Growth Relations
Original language description
The main purpose of this contribution is to investigate whether long lasting period of high deficits can systematically change effects of main budget categories on economic growth. We employed dynamic and statistic panel data regression of OECD countries in period 2000-2014 and found rather the weak evidence. On the revenue side of fiscal budget all categories appear to be less detrimental to growth as average deficit over time increases. On the expenditure side only public investment and social expenditures behave in suggested way.
