Validity of purchasing power parity in the Czech Republic
Original language description
The Purchasing Power Parity Theory is one of the oldest and the most controversial topics in the international economics. Especially there are discussions about its validity in transitive economies. The aim of this article is to assess the validity of PPP in the Czech Republic. There exists an absolute and a relative version of PPP theory. The absolute version was verified by stacionarity tests (in particular ADF and PP tests), the relative version was tested by regression analysis. It was found that neither absolute nor relative version of PPP theory is valid in the Czech Republic.
