Risk of Deflation in the Euro Area
Original language description
This paper discusses how serious is the risk of deflation in the euro area. With using the IMF methodology, we calculated the deflation vulnerability index in the first quarter of 2016. We have found that Greece and Spain were the euro area countries with a high risk of deflation measured by the deflation vulnerability index. For the euro area as a whole, index shows moderate risk like for the United Kingdom. For the Czech Republic we have found low vulnerability to deflation.
