Long-term unemployment is considered to be one of the biggest labour market problems. The aim of the article is to evaluate long-term unemployment in the selected municipal part of Ostrava and to identify the risk factors that determine this long-term unemployment. Data for the article were used from sources of the Labour Office of the Czech Republic. More than two thirds of the total number of unemployed are after factual adjustment of long-term unemployment in the selected municipal part long-term unemployed, that showed the results of the research. The risk factors that determine longterm unemployment are health restrictions, higher age, low education, care for a child under 15 years of age. This factors determine long term unemployment not only separately but also in mutual combination.
