Comparison of selected aspects of DAX and SQL
Original language description
Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and Structured Query Language (SQL) are not languages of the same type. SQL is a declarative language, whereas DAX is a functional language. They are not even used by the same tools. Yet many similar features can be found among them. For example, working with tables and their columns, the option of querying including features such as table join types or aggregation functions. The aim of this paper is not only to present a relatively young language - DAX, but primarily trying to compare it with SQL, which can help to clarify many interesting features of both languages.
