Does Approach to CSR Differs in Family and Non-Family Firms?
Original language description
Family businesses show certain characteristics that differs them from non-family businesses. In recent years, there has been an increased attention from scholars in identifying and describing these traits. Moreover, many researchers point to the future oriented mindset of family firms, where the main reason could be family legacy and sustaining dynasty in business in upcoming years. Existence of this long-term business mindset suggest high importance of sustainability, possibly in the form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Goal of this study is to analyse firms in Czech Republic with a focus on family and non-family owned companies and their CSR practices. To achieve this, 292 firms from Czech Republic filled structured questionnaire and answered questions concerning their approach to CSR. Data from questionnaires are used for statistical analysis and tested with Chi-Square test. Results of this paper should contribute to the understanding of firms' approach to the CSR according to the family and non-family ownership of their business.
