Ready for a crisis? The approach of small business managers over the last decade. Comparative study.
Original language description
The subject of this article is the issue of small business preparation for the crisis. Based on a comparison of data from 2009, 2012, 2019, and 2020, the aim is to identify potential changes in managers' approaches to preparing for the crisis. A hypothesis on the continuously increasing preparedness of businesses for crises in those years has been formulated. In each year of research, more than 1100 responses were obtained electronically. Statistical tests and correlation and factor analysis were used for their processing. Different approaches of managers to crisis prevention in individual years have been identified. They differed in the formal approach (crisis plans and teams) and an informal approach (behaviour to employees and external surroundings). The key hypothesis about the continuously increasing preparedness of small businesses for the crisis has not been confirmed.
