Theory of Regionalism and Potential of V4 Countries for Common Platform in Foreign Policy
Original language description
The Visegrad Group can be currently marked as the most influential international platform in Central Europe. Objective of this cooperation is not primarily economic integration: this is sufficiently solved within the EU. The aim of Visegrad cooperation is uniting not only institutions but also individuals in the region. Member states, first of all, wishing to consolidate their position inside and outside the EU. Interests of states in international relations are usually promoted through as well as foreign policy and defense policy, and such contacts are among the Visegrad countries very intensive. While a strong tendency to regionnes among V4 member states is a source for understanding, a lot of differences, which are mainly in the field of political culture, are the potential for misunderstanding. Extremely interrupted and complicated history of Central Europe is a cause potential for different evaluation of nationalism, religion, leadership. In modern common history there are latent many injustices, no obvious movable boundaries with national minorities causing different preferences in international relations due to historical experience. The strong tendency to harmonization prevailed last few year towards the war in Ukraine, towards economic crisis or towards emigrant wave, when V4 platform served for common position. The current political development in individual Visegrad states shows differences, suggests the limits of liberal democracy and therefore possible limits for their close cooperation. This development is undesirable because it would lead to a slowdown the social development and also leads to marginalization of these states in international relations.
