    Structure Analysis of Intercalated Layer Silicates: Combination of Molecular Simulations and Experiment

    Na-montmorillonite intercalated with octadecylamonium cations and subsequently intercalated with octadecylamine are compared with intercalation with dodecylamine and octylamine with the aim to compare these intercalate for the applicability for nanocomposite materials on base of polymer/clays. The structures were determined on the basis of a combination of results from X-ray diffraction and molecular simulation. The resulting values showed that montmorillonite intercalated with dodecylamine or octadecylamine molecules are suitable for exfoliation of silicate layers.

    Interkaláty sodného montmorillonitu oktadecylamoniovými kationty a následnou interkalací oktadecylamínem byly hodnoceny z hlediska jejich využití jako nanokompozitové materiály, připravené na bázi polymer/jíl. Struktury byly vyhodnoceny metodami rentgenové difrakce a molekulární simulací. Výsledky ukázaly, že vermikulit interkalovaný dodecylaminem nebo oktadecylaminem splňuje podmínky pro exfoliace silikátových vrstev
