Friction layers study of phenolic resin bound composites

  • Original language description

The formulation of friction composites requires the optimization of multiple performance criteria, among others, a stable and adequate coefficient of kinetic friction and low volume wear rate. We had researched friction composites with variable content of abrasive-zircon and filler-vermiculite. Adding zircon to the composite we observed enhance of kinetic friction coefficient, while volume wear rate was relatively independent on the temperature. Vermiculite content does not influenced friction coefficient radically, but higher amount of veermiculite maintained the volume wear rate low up till temperature 300°C. Dehydration and rehydration of vermiculite plays an inconsiderable role in friction performance.
