Using three aliphatic ammonium salts with various molecule sizes, pretreated Na-vermiculite was used to prepare an expanded interlayer space for the subsequent introduction of vinyl acetate-monomer. Small BA molecules and Na-vermiculite build only a 1.33nm monolayer in systems with PVAc, whereas nanocomposites with DTMA and DODA develop a higher-ordered structure in which both adopt a bilayer-like arrangement of molecular clusters without a particular alignment in the vermiculite interlayer space.

Tři alifatické amoniové soli s různou velikosti molekuly byly použity pro přípravu expandovaného mezivrství a následnou interkalaci vinyl acetatového monomeru. Malá molekula butyl amonného iontu tvoří monovrstvu zatím co dodecyltrimethyl a dimethyldioktadecyl amonné kationty vytvoří dvojvrstvy.
