POSSIBILITIES OF COMPUTER MODELLING OF FLOW OVER A CIRCULAR CYLINDER
Original language description
Even with present computational power of computers the investigation of effects, which are proceeding at flow over cylinder, sphere, etc. is very difficult. The computation of flow pattern of flow over a cylinder for chosen Reynolds numbers is performedin FLUENT and the influence of model of turbulence on time response of velocity field is studied. Fields of velocity computed by means of various models of turbulence Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model and k-ω Shear-Stress Transport (SST) model are qualitatively different. Carrying out numerical simulations with higher flow velocity essentially increases time of calculation and have higher requests on computational power, because for growing size of Reynolds number mesh must be refined.
