Modelling of NO adsorption in fixed bed on activated carbon
Original language description
Adsorption experiments of nitric oxide in nitrogen carrier gas were held on commercial activated carbon. Adsorption is mainly applied for the filtration of air flowing to electronic facilities, in museums, galleries and other indoor areas or in gas masks. The aim of presented paper was the description of equilibrium and dynamics of NO adsorption on commercial activated carbon and further determination of appropriate adsorption isotherm and overall mass transfer coefficients. Process of adsorption can bedescribed by breakthrough curves as the response to step concentration inputs. Experimental response of breakthrough curves were matched with theoretical response curves calculated from the linear driving force model (LDF). The model assumes Langmuir adsorption isotherm for the description of non-linear equilibrium and overall mass transfer coefficient k for mass transfer mechanism.
