Activated Carbons Prepared by Microwave Pyrolysis
Original language description
Poster. Industrial activity in the world is steadily growing and so is the pollution of the environment. Activated carbon is the main adsorbent. Activated carbon was previously produced directly from hard coal or by conventional pyrolysis of biomass. Conversely, microwave radiation is an alternative method of heating and has already been successfully applied to biomass pyrolysis. Compared to convection heating processes where heat is transferred from the surface to the core of the material by conduction through a temperature gradient, the microwaves induce heat at the molecular level by directly converting electromagnetic energy to heat and therefore can provide uniform internal heating to the material particles.
