Phenolics adsorption on alumina supported HDO catalyst

  • Original language description

The results were presented (poster) at 16th Pannonian International Symposium on Catalysis, Sept 1-5, 2024, Seggau, Austria. Most catalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) studies focus on individual components, neglecting interactions in multicomponent oxygenate mixtures. A key challenge lies in understanding catalytic activity inhibition observed in these mixtures, often caused by competitive adsorption effects. The composition, morphology, and structure of the catalyst dictate the type of adsorption sites and the interactions between adsorbed species. Multicomponent catalysts further increase the complexity of adsorption/desorption (ADS/DES) effects due to varied interactions between catalyst constituents and reaction mixture components. This study aimed to describe the ADS/DES behavior of model organic compounds anisole (ANI) and guaiacol (GUA) and their mixtures on Ni and Cu catalysts supported on Al2O3. ADS/DES studies were conducted using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) techniques and breakthrough curve measurements.
