DUALISM IN APPROACH TO PROTECTING PERSONAL DATA
Original language description
It is predicted that by 2020, in line with EU guidelines, smart electricity meters will have been implemented in 80% of households. Some energy consumers are afraid that such meters will record data concerning their privacy and allow the interception of such data by cybercriminals or that such data will be used for purposes other than accounting services of electricity supply. The authors of the publication conducted a survey among the Poles and Czechs to find out whether such fears are actually among the people and to what extent. The researchers also decided to check whether there is a duality between concerns about the disclosure of measurement data from smart energy meters and voluntarily expressed consent access to much more personal content stored on smartphones.
