An estimation of appliance impact on frequency and power factor parameters in off-grid environment
Original language description
Nowadays, for many people living in a remote area, powering their homes or small businesses by use of a small island system with renewable energy sources is becoming an interesting option. Today, these systems can be driven by algorithms based on intelligent data analysis methods, real-time optimizations, and predictive models. Systems, which use these algorithms, are called the Smart Grids. The smart-grid technology makes the electricity generation and consumption more effective efficient. It has the potential to reduce greenhouse-gasses emissions and to improve environmental quality. For the correct design of the control algorithm, we need the appropriate data of the behavior of each device connected to the electrical system. Our paper presents an analysis of the various appliances impact on the off-grid system. This analysis shows how the usual appliances affect frequency (FREQ) and power factor (PF) in the off-grid system. (C) Technical University of Košice 2019.
