AN ARCHITECTURE FOR TRAFFIC MICROSIMULATION SOFTWARE BASED ON MULTI-AGENT PARADIGM

  • Original language description

Transport sector is a complex system consisting of autonomous elements that mutually cooperate and adapt to changing environment. This type of behavior could be nicely modeled by using multiagent approach. Open source applications with a number of mutually interconnected autonomous computing units, which are multi-agent systems, make high demands on hardware, but also on the architecture and software realization of such applications. Architecture affects the possibility of maintenance and extensibilityof such systems, and especially the ability of man to oversee the running simulations. This article focuses on the architecture design of multiagent system, realizing a traffic microsimulation, fully in line with the FIPA standard. Agent oriented programming is using modern software engineering methodologies, in order to come up with more robust and maintainable solution. Most of the toolkits are based on Java programming language, however, this article will lay its focus on .NET platfor
