    Mental Disorders of Incompetent Adults in the Czech Republic

    The objective of the study was to determine socio-demographic and epidemiological data on incompetent adults (i.e. people over 18 years of age were deprived of legal capacity by court decisions) for the analysis of the system of guardianship in the CzechRepublic. One of the objectives of this study was to identify the types of mental disorders at incompetent adults. A survey, carried out in two regions in the Czech Republic in 2009-2011, consisted of two phases. The partial results from the first phasewill be presented in the article. The content of 1,092 court records on incompetent adults over the period 2006-2008 was analysed and described. The data collection technique was used as the content analysis. The results indicated the difference betweenthe types of mental disorders of incompetent adults by age groups and sex in both regions.
