The present invention describes new derivatives of boron-containing clusters and their specific inhibitory effects toward the enzyme carbonic anhydrase IX, a protein overexpressed in cancer tissues. The invention also includes the synthetic procedure and the use of the above mention derivatives. The inhibitors of human carbonic anhydrase IX described in this invention can be used as active compounds of pharmaceuticals used in cancer therapy.
