Muscle activity inhibition in lower limb muscles during gait imagery tasks
Original language description
Motor imagery as a conscious mental simulation of an action without its actual execution, shares aktivity of specific neural substrates similar to those involved in the actual executed movement. Specifically walking skills have been proven to be improved after motor imagery exercise. The evidence of muscle activity change within gait imagery task have been pointed out by our experimental study. This shown, that imagining of rhythmic gait provides inhibitory input mostly to the shank leg muscles in the default sitting position.
