The International Week of Cooperation between the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University and their partners in education 2024 will offer an attractive programme of educational and social activities. The event interconnects health and social sciences in an interesting way, as it focuses not only on different research methodologies, which may differ across different disciplines, but especially brings insights into the care of vulnerable people from the perspective of health care, social work and volunteering. The International Week will include a conference of the Doctoral Programme in Nursing and Physiotherapy, where students will present designs and partial results of their dissertation research. Together with international mentors from Northumbria University, UK (Prof. Alison Steven and Assoc. Prof. Jane Greaves), University of Genoa, Italy (Prof. Annanaria Bagnasco) and Curtin University, Australia (Prof. Mary Steen) with an interdisciplinary overlap and gain new insights into mixed-methodology research. The event also includes a course "Considerations for the development of research instruments such as questionnaires" focusing on how to proceed with the development and validation of a new assessment instrument. Students will be able to work in groups with existing data and have the opportunity to practice developing several questions. Students will also learn how to organize and conduct an interview/session, how to capture the data produced, and how to then use the results to feed back issues into refinement of the tool. The programme focused on the topic of multidisciplinary care for a specific group of socially fragile people, the homeless and people at risk of losing their homes, will provide an insight and discussion on the offer and effects of various social and other services for these target groups, both at the level of addressing their social exclusion and the level of prevention. Special attention is also paid to health services for the homeless, including an interesting workshop on the so-called "wet services", which are designed for homeless people who are currently unable to manage their addiction and aim to provide a minimum dignified living environment.Students of interpreting and translation from the Department of English, Faculty of Arts will demonstrate their interpreting skills in various professional fields throughout the week and will linguistically help to bridge the domains of knowledge and languages.
