Ken Kesey: The Laying of Cuckoo Eggs

  • Original language description

Ken Kesey´s successful novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo´s Nest became not only a cult text but the author assumed the role of the protagonist in real life and created a following of fans, the Merry Pranksters. There was an element of dissent in Kesey´ s writing and life which appealed to the Czech immigrant film director, Miloš Forman. The two artists never met and Kesey never realized that his rebellion against the totalitarian ?combine? was successfully transformed into a protest story against the Communist regime in Forman´s Czechoslovakia.
