    Prof. PhDr. Ivan Poledňák, DrSc. (December 31, 1931, Velké Meziříčí-October 5, 2009, Prague) was an important figure in Czech and European musicology in the late 20th century. It is clear from his scientific work, comprising dozens of books and hundredsof studies and articles on music pedagogy, psychology, aesthetics, semiotics, theory and history of popular and jazz music, lexicography and monographic treatise on musical personalities.
