From Melodrama to Opera via Music Drama and Historical Reprises
Original language description
The work by Zdeněk Fibich was traditionally devided by czech musicology according to subject themes. The antique inspirations of 1880s were substituted in 1890s by famous love stories (Byron, Shakespeare, czech mythology etc.). Nevertheless, the main change come with melodramatical trilogy Hippodamia, where Fibich clearly defined his way to music drama.
