Original language description

The paper is focused on the evolution of the term "art rock" within Anglo-American and Czech cultural context from its emergence in the first half of the 1970s until nowadays. Attention is paid to the significant metamorphoses and modifications of the term in the course of several decades; contemporary usage of the term is also reflected. Apart from the term "art rock" the paper also deals with the issues of its synonymous and alternative concepts. In this sense the emphasis is laid on the relationshipof concepts art rock and progressive rock.
