The workshop was conceived as an introduction into the theme of performative poetry, accompanied with an illustrative poetry exhibition provided by the Slam Poetry Spring 2013 class and followed by discussion. Workshop themes: 1. The history of Slam Poetry in the U.S. and in the Czech Republic (the foundation of the genre in the United States by Marc Smith; the arrival of Marc Smith to Olomouc); 2. The basic forms of and approaches to Slam Poetry (authorship vs. adaptation, improvisation vs. text reproduction); 3. Becoming a "slammer": the ABC of slam poetry practice (6 specific points to be demonstrated by Slam Poetry class participants who recite their texts dramatically on the stage). 4. Analysis of their performance and group discussion. 5. Information on future activities in the field of Slam Poetry within the INKULTUS project and invitation to Autumn 2013 Slam Poetry course.
