Bilingual Site-Specific Street Art Poetry
Original language description
A workshop for 10-12 people on composition of poems/nursery rhymes in both English and Czech; in the end the students will have produced their poems in bilingual versions. The poems will be meant to work together with a potential site-specific street artpiece. On Thursday, we will discuss what it is we are after, go over some published nursery rhymes and tightly woven poems in translation, see examples of site-specific street art and street poems, explore various writing techniques etc. The students will then take their cameras (cell-phones) and go in the streets to look for places they could hypothetically alter. At home in the evening, they will try to produce working versions of the poems, send in the photos which they will get back printed the next day. On Friday we will be in class polishing the rhymes and drawing over the images to make a sketches of the visual part. We will tackle artistic techniques which could be used if one was to work in the streets. The aim is to help the
