Forgotten old Czech Source for the Events in Pulkau in 1338
Original language description
The study examines the old Czech poem How Jews tortured Corpus Christi and turns to the particular case of the Host desecration in Pulkau in 1338 and the subsequent persecutions of the Jewish communities in Austria and surrounding regions, including the Czech lands. Through a genre and formal analysis of the poem, it is shown that although it is a text which describes the events in Pulkau in the fullest detail, it is primarily not a historiographical text but a composition with the function of exemplum.
