Original language description

This publication presents new historical and restorational findings regarding the painting Madonna and Child with St. John the Baptist, from the Colloredo-Mannsfeld art collection of the castle in Opočno. For a long time the painting was considered to bea copy of a work by the valued Florentine painter Andrea del Sarto, the so called Madonna del Fries, which is now in the collection of the National Trust in Ascott. The article places the picture in an art historical context, compares it to Madonna delFries, reviews the evolution of the attribution of both works and touches upon the issues of its origin, dating, authorship and other circumstances around its creation.
