Die Studie widmet sich drei historischen Romanen - Wulfila, Alarich und Reich ohne Volk - des v.a. dank seinen phantastischen Romanen bekannten deutschmährischen Schriftstellers Franz Spunda. Spundas historische Romane werden im Hinblick auf die Rezeptionen und den Missbrauch von politischen Mythen analysiert, die (nicht nur) in den 30 Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts im deutschsprachigen Raum virulent waren. Es wird gezeigt, welche Aspekt des Gotenmythos bzw. des Germanenmythos allgemein Spunda in seinem Werk aufgegriffen und wie er sie modifiziert hat.
