A Curious Link between More and Campanella. Anton Francesco Doni's World of Alternative Worlds
Original language description
Doni's brief dialogue Mondo savio was inspired by More's Utopia and, in turn, inspired Campanella's City of the Sun. Nonetheless it differs from both in its intent. Not a positive description and not demanding a temporary suspension of disbelief, it does not claim a normative value. Doni endorsed skepticism. Unlike Bruno and Campanella, who undertook to unite the flood of heterogeneous new information of an infinite universe in a consistent and highly complex philosophical system, Doni reacted to the multiplicity of worlds by multiplying the ego.
