How to Think with the Head of Another? The Historical Dimension of Philosophical Problems
Original language description
Frequently, philosophy is set in opposition to history of philosophy. This paper argues that philosophizing properly requires acknowledging the indebtedness to the history of philosophy, because there is no philosophical problem that does not have a history. Understanding the history of philosophy entails appreciating any philosophical thesis as the answer to a question. And actualizing those questions amounts to thinking with the head of past thinkers. This will be explained with several famous philosophical theories.
