Adapting Jane Austen´s Male Characters in Selected Film Versions of Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility

  • Original language description

Jane Austen’s novels reveal masculine emotional restraint and silence as being the proof of a character’s worthiness. By contrast, the contemporary film adaptations of Jane Austen’s novels display a contrary creed, a necessity for emotional display. The objective of my paper is to prove that the contradiction between novels and their film adaptations is more apparent than real .
