The Phenomenon of Conscious Business – Which is Ahead – Practice or Academia? A Literature Review.
Original language description
Many people have started thinking about business in a new way which is called conscious business. It is not only entrepreneurs but also customers, business partners and other stakeholders who have been asking questions about the purpose of business and its role in the society. The shift is strong but different in different parts of the world. And to our knowledge, there is no systematic reflection of this development in academic and scientific literature. Thus the main goal of this paper is to provide an overview of the current literature on the topic of conscious business and to start description and analysis of the current development of conscious business, its roots, and reflection in the literature. The outcome is a summary of important publications on the topic of conscious business. We focus on academic literature as well as on non-academic literature, i.e. sources written by business practitioners and we ask which is ahead – practice or academia? The purpose of the paper is to start systematic research into the phenomenon of conscious business and to spread it not only among researchers but also among business students who are to become future business leaders.
