The attachment styles: Motivational framework of personality dispositions in selection and counseling

  • Original language description

The study integrates the use of work-based personality questionnaires and attachment styles measurement in management counselling, personnel selection and employee development. The integration aims to explore a potential framework to interpret the personality through motivation and to predict work behavior beyond the borders of the Five Factor Model. Defined as a source of attachment style variability, attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance are employed as interpretation tools of the manifestations of personality dispositions identified via questionnaires. The data were drawn from a group of 185 participants aged 20 to 59 years. The results of the explorative analysis imply that attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety inhibit desirable work behavior. Simultaneous effects of both scales were identified in Flexibility, Sensitivity and Self-Confidence. Attachment avoidance is an independent predictor of lower Leadership Motivation, Team Orientation and Openness to Contact and Assertiveness. Attachment anxiety is an independent predictor of lower Action Orientation, Sociability, Emotional Stability and Working under Pressure.
