    The authors of the article give a general view of German, Czech and Polish research on the perception of generic masculine. The focus of the article lies in a detailed discussion of available Czech experiments. The second part presents Kolek´s own German-Czech association experiment of generic masculine, which again questioned the generic function of masculine in Czech and German.
