Mapping Affective Operations

  • Original language description

Drawing on the notion of formal affect by Eugenie Brinkema, this essay charts the main directions in the contemporary affect studies across various disciplines such as philosophy, literary studies, media philosophy, and film theory, and proposes a new concept of the "affective triggers" which is highly useful not only for conceptualizing many strands of the so-called affective turn, but also for a close reading of the work of affects in aesthetic forms and cultural practices.
