Fresco Painters in the Service of Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno and the Transformation of Visual Culture in Moravia
Original language description
The Olomouc Bishop Karl von Lichtentein-Castelcorno employed no long-term fresco painter, but used the services of a number of frescoes who worked in Central Europe. The study provides an overview of these artists, their realizations, but mainly focuses on clarifying the circumstances in which they got into the bishop's ministry. It reflects on the extent to which the bishop chose the artist consciously and purposefully, and to what extent it was the result of circumstances.
