Johannes Kepler and his Neoplatonic Sources
Original language description
The article focuses on Kepler´s perception of Neoplatonism, especially that of Plotinus´ and Proclus’. His basic ontological framework stems from Platonic ontology, which is heavily influenced by Pythagoreanism with some minor Stoic influences. Nevertheless, Kepler himself states that Proclus and his explanation “more geometrico” was the most important impetus for his philosophical and scientific endeavor. Kepler cites and explains Proclus´ ideas in the central parts of his major works.
