Non-religion in the CEE region
Original language description
The chapter is devoted to a reflection and comparison of basic trends in the free-thinking and atheist movement in twelve selected Central and Eastern European countries. It deals with a meta-analysis of individual parts of the book, what assumptions were reflected in author´s methodological perspectives and grasping the issue of research into the phenomenon of "non-religion" and atheism. It then discusses the main ideas and reasons that have influenced the development of non-religion in the region of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) over the past 150 years. Our main question was: what are the intellectual, cultural, social and political factors that have most influenced non-religion in this area. The final part reflects the gaps that have appeared in our research and may thus become a space for future research.
