Technical Russian Textbook by Bohumil Dobrovolný and Emil Řeháček was published in Prague in 1946. The authors propose an original method of lan-guage learning, based on getting familiar with the content, continuous reading of the entire textbook, careful study of the Czech commentary, memorization of words in Czech transcription and the search for Czech analogies, followed by the phase of consistent learning. The content of the textbook is of particular interest: in addition to the technical texts, grammar tables and a glossary, the authors propose an unusual selection of texts for reading, where, along with some outdated texts about USSR with an insignificant ideological component and a small selection of literary texts, prayers and quotes from the New Testament are presented. The textbook reflects the image of the Soviet Union and Russian culture at the time of political changes in post-war Czechoslovakia. The biography of B. Dobrovolný, the main author of the textbook, who authored and edited numerous technical and language textbooks, pocket dictionaries and popular science books, is also representative in this context.
