Cultural-Anthropoogical Paradigms and the Anthropological Study of Religion
Original language description
The chapter is based on an overview of cultural anthropological paradigms as defined by Alan Barnard (History and Theory in Anthropology, 2004). It provides five examples to show the application of these paradigms in the anthropology of religion. It discusses approaches to the study of religion and magic in the works of Edward B. Tylor, Franz Boas, Bronislaw K. Malinowski, E. E. Evans-Pritchard, and Mary Douglas.
