The Avant-Garde and the Art of Transculturality: An Introduction
Original language description
We draw the concept of ‘transculturality’ from Wolfgang Welsch to acknowledge the inner differentiation and complexity of contemporary Chinese culture while also emphasising its permeability. Such a theoretical framework aims to accommodate the ‘globalizing tendencies’ as well as ‘the desire for specificity and particularity’ that have animated Chinese cultural life in the post-Reform era.
