Original language description
The publication focuses on interdisciplinary research of selected hanging paintings in the custody of the Olomouc Museum of Art. It consists of an introductory chapter that introduces the reader to the technical history of art and also discusses the history and current possibilities of non-invasive optical surveys of works of art not only for the purposes of restoration, but especially for the art historical interpretation of art objects. How an art historian can work with technological knowledge and to what extent he can rely on it at all is demonstrated and addressed through seven case studies dealing with hanging paintings from the Olomouc and Kroměříž picture galleries.
