Tommaso Campanella (1568–1639): Soul, Intellect, and Body
Original language description
The excerpts from book 4 of Campanella’s De homine (On Man), a theological work, are representative of his thought in various important ways. They show his penchant toward naturalism as well as his endeavor to reconcile his philosophy with the fundamental teachings of Christian theology; his critical stance toward the scholastic reading of Aristotle and his own metaphysical assumptions (panpsychism, the trinitarian structure of all existing things) are also evident. The English translation with an introductory study.
