Biosemiotics as a metaphilosophical framework for the naturalized humanities
Original language description
Biosemiotics describes natural sign processes within a philosophical framework that makes semiotic concepts compatible with a biological account of communication. However, the disunity of methods and objects of study in general semiotics makes these claims hard to make compatible across its different areas. In this chapter, the author suggests that a naturalized biosemiotics can serve as a metaphilosophical general conceptual organizing framework for the analysis of semiotic concepts and their application in the humanities.
