Evidence-based strategies for active learning in large lectures
Original language description
Online workshop was led by assoc. prof. Sharon McMahon Sawyer (USA). Data collected from a pilot research study of TUL of students and instructors perspectives of educational processes showed that both are dissatisfied with traditional lectures. Traditional lectures place the burden of teaching on the instructor while the students role remains passive. Research shows students learn and remember more when they are actively involved in their own learning. This seminar offered instructors small strategies and practical tips to increase student engagement without adding to instructors workload, based on research findings and empirical evidence.
