Chronica fratrum Minorum de Observantia provinciae Bohemiae, vol. 1, Medieval Observant Chronicle, 1440s-1553
Original language description
The volume is an edition of the first part of the Bohemian Observant Franciscan chronicle, Chronica fratrum Minorum de Observantia provinciae Bohemiae secularibus non communicanda, that is preserved in one manuscript only kept in the Library of the National Museum in Prague and was previously attributed to Michael of Carinthia. This source crucially elucidates the history of the Bohemian Franciscan vicariate and province as well as the whole Cismontane family. In this way, it complements the Polish chronicle of John of Komorowo and the Nuremberg chronicle of Nicholas Glassberger. Thus, the critical edition is an indispensable tool for all historians of religious and monastic history in Italy and Central Europe.
